Beethoven in Buda is one of the noteworthy classical music festivals in Budapest, Hungary. The festival is in May as a commemoration of Beethoven conducting a concert in the Buda Castle, Budapest.
The concert took place more than 200 years ago on 7 May, when Ludwig van Beethoven graced the Castle Theatre of the Buda Castle with a concert.
This concert was to celebrate the name day of Archduke Joseph’s first wife, the Russian princess Alexandra Pavolvana.
Unlike in other countries, name days, just like birthdays, are celebrated in Hungary.
The Beethoven in Buda music festival is organized by the municipality of the Castle District (the Varnegyed local government).
The festival is a 3-day concert series, not necessarily playing Beethoven pieces. For instance, in 2012, there was a jazz concert too (see the poster for a taster)

Venue: multiple venues in Budapest, e.g.
