There are several great summer festivals in Budapest, Hungary, probably the most well known of which is the world famous Sziget Festival on an actual island (Hajogyari Sziget) between the two parts of Budapest, the hilly Buda side and the flat Pest side. The summer festival genres are versatile: summer gastro festivals, beer festivals, music festivals from funky to operas and more.

June in Budapest is really a lively time. There are many beer festivals this time in the city of Budapest, which are often not just about beers (or ciders) but music too, e.g. beer lovers will appreciate the Buda Castle Beer Festival, the Craft Beer Festival or the Czech Beer Festival when authentic Czech beers come to Budapest to enlighten the mood for a few days.. The Foie Gras Festival Budapest centers on goose liver and a whole range of gourmet foods and drinks mixed with concerts and more.

August in Budapest culminates in the August 20 national holiday festivities with the fireworks, the consecration of the new bread and the merry festivities in the Buda Castle called the Festival of Folk Arts.

August 20 is the birthday of Hungary, so the celebrations are really spectacular.
Moreover, August reaches the zenith of the Hungarian music festivals with the ever so cool Sziget Festival when the most popular foreign and Hungarian performers (from Prince to Quimby, respectively) may perform on the island where the festival is taking place. What could excite the Sziget festival folks better than the Water Circus Party in Szechenyi Bath, where you can enjoy the summer bath party festival series (Szechenyi Bath Parties)
Then the Budapest music scene still continues with the Summer on the Chain Bridge festival when the Chain Bridge (Lanchid) becomes a pedestrian only festival venue with lots of jazz, world music etc. concerts and souvenir and food stalls. (this festival was organized for many years, but not recently).
The Festival of Folk Arts in the Buda Castle offers lots of artisan handcrafts, gourmet foods and drinks, folksy music and folk dance ensemble performances.
